Loving Pets - Healing Lives

Fundraising

Sometimes our circumstances are such that while we have the deisre to support an organization, we just don't have any money to spare for the donation. There is an extremely desirable alternative to cash. Your time. Many of the volunteer programs require or are most conducive to regular weekly time spent at the job, but sometimes regular weekly commitments aren't reasonable for our lifestyle. If that is your situation, consider fundraising. It produces much needed cash for the programs which help our pets, and it doesn't require the cash or time commitment of other contributions.

Being involved in fundraising can be as simple as working for a few hours at an event intended to raise money for something, or as complicated as being responsible for an ongoing fundraising project for a charity.

Most non-profit groups have fundraising events periodicaly planned and only need workers to do any number of different things. Sometimes it can be as simple as conveying the mission of the group, or answering questions about the organization or issue. Several non-profit groups for the welfare of animals in Sonoma County hold rummage/garage sales to raise money, and Forgotten Felines now has their own thrift store. They need volunteers to work different shifts.

Another type of fundraising includes making craft items for rescue groups and shelters to sell at events and in their shelter stores.

Non-profit groups also have a need for people who are "take-charge" individuals with a desire to organize or run a fundraising program.

To volunteer, contact the shelter or rescue group of your choice and ask for the volunteer co-ordinator.
